The Opportunity
Abbott Core Diagnostics has an opening for a Finance Manager at our Lake Forest, Illinois location. This individual is the financial business partner and counsel to Core Diagnostics R&D and Regulatory Affairs leadership. This position participates in strategic initiatives and provides financial information which enables timely and effective decision making. This role has full responsibility for the planning and execution of key financial processes across Core Diagnostics R&D and Regulatory Affairs, including Plan, RLBEs, Confirmations, Actuals Reporting, and Balance Sheet. This role is also heavily involved in strategic decisions on staffing and project resourcing.
What You Will Work On
Lead and manage the development of annual and quarterly budgets for Core Lab R&D organizations, Research, Assay Development, Medical/Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, new product development Support/Engineering/Program Management Office (PMO), and Digital Health solutions. Coordinate with PMO to understand and incorporate R&D Long Range Portfolio and Commercial prioritization when developing quarterly RLBE. Prepare RLBE Review presentations and all required Division/Corporate schedules. Strong communication and business partnership is a must.
Responsibilities include:
Forecasting & Planning :
Lead and manage the development of quarterly RLBE and Confirmation processes for Core Lab R&D and Regulatory Affairs organizations. Develop timely and accurate P&L and Balance Sheet forecasts for all spend. Understand and communicate key forecast assumptions and potential material risks and opportunities to the forecasts. Lead RLBE and Confirmation reviews with R&D Controller. Prepare schedules and commentary required for Division submission and presentations to senior leadership.
Reporting:
Develop and distribute monthly actuals reporting packages. Prepare R&D VP and Regulatory Affairs DVP Staff Meeting monthly review packages. Prepare and/or review other monthly financial results presentations for each R&D organization as needed. Review and understand actual financial results for the organization including ensuring the accuracy of financial information and related operational metrics including comparisons to appropriate benchmarks. Ensure timely submission of R&D actuals and required commentary to Division.
Develop timely and accurate Balance Sheet forecasts for Plan and RLBEs. Periodically review Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy. Review and approve all Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by R&D FP&A. Provide oversight on Genpact/Hub prepared Balance Sheet reconciliations when needed.
Process:
Assume a significant leadership role in the identification, development and implementation of financial policies and procedures across the R&D and Regulatory Affairs organization. Identify and implement creative solutions to complex financial challenges in an environment of changing business needs. Provide financial counsel to all business partners and prepare ad hoc analyses as required.
Managerial:
Lead, motivate, manage, and develop a professional staff of three through education, training, coaching and guidance. Direct the day-to-day execution of the FP&A team to achieve the organization's business and financial goals. Maintain internal processes, procedures, and controls to ensure the integrity of financial assets and accuracy of financial statements and forecasts in compliance with Division/Corporate financial policies and procedures and SOX requirements. Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required
Must have 5-8 years of progressive finance experience supporting Commercial, Operation and/or R&D organizations.
Experience in multiple functions a plus. Sound financial analysis, sales forecasting, and dynamic modeling skills
Communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately with all levels of the organization
Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence others without direct authority, good negotiating skills, solid analytical ability, and ability to think and adapt quickly in a changing environment
Preferred Qualification:
MBA and/or CPA preferred

The base pay for this position is $111,300.00 - $222,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
