JOB TITLE: Buyer
LOCATION NAME: Cambridge, OH
REPORTS TO: Plant Controller
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tenneco's Champion Plant in Cambridge, OH is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. The Buyer will support purchasing operations for direct and indirect materials to meet production and business needs. This position is critical in maintaining inventory, building supplier relationships, and supporting plant efficiency through timely procurement and cost-effective purchasing strategies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with planning, sourcing, and purchasing of raw materials, MRO, services, and indirect materials.
Follow established procurement procedures in line with company policy and compliance standards.
Maintain and review purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and monitor delivery schedules.
Coordinate with suppliers on pricing, delivery, and terms; support negotiations as needed.
Monitor inventory levels and support the disposal of surplus or obsolete materials.
Collaborate with internal departments (Operations, Quality, Maintenance) to ensure material availability and align with production schedules.
Support cost reduction and process improvement initiatives within the purchasing function.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation in ERP systems (SAP or PLEX preferred).
EDUCATION:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing or high-volume environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with inventory systems, ERP tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
SAP or PLEX system experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
