Provide manufacturing engineering and technical support to other Engineering teams while working cross-functionally with Quality, Tooling Engineers, Maintenance, Process Engineers and Project Engineers as well as support the Production teams to support daily production and ensure achievement of safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost objectives.
Actively promote and drive a culture of safety within Spectrum Plastics.
Provide daily technical support to production to achieve department goals for safety, quality, on-time delivery, scrap, efficiency, and cost improvements.
Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing methodologies to improve these same metrics.
Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment and perform root cause analyses.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes for new product introductions.
Write and train production personnel on work instructions and procedures.
Solve problems on the factory floor and act as the primary technical resource to resolve production issues after they have been escalated through the factory.
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis activities, and implementation of long-term solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
Develop and implement process improvements.
Generate and keep all manufacturing documentation up-to-date (BOM's, specification changes, ECO's, reports, print revisions, fixturing, protocols, etc.).
Lead formal root cause investigations and implement resulting corrective actions in a timely manner and confirm effectiveness through statistical analysis.
Interface with suppliers as required for incoming components, outsourced services, and new process equipment.
Write and revise protocols and reports, both internally and externally, for validation.
Complete process FMEA's as required and implement and review process controls.
Contribute as a member of Material Review Board.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering (B.S.) and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; or equivalent
Experience in a regulated industry and familiarity with the requirements for medical device manufacturing preferred
A background or working knowledge of polymers and polymer processing (extrusion, solvent bond, etc.) is highly preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, gather, and analyze information develop solutions and resolve problems in a timely manner.

CAD experience.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for moderate periods of time in an office and factory setting. Regular use of hand tools, micrometers, and microscopes is required. The employee is occasionally required to stoop will regularly lift up to 20 pounds, and occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
