HOURLY RATE: $25.05
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
(This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities.) Successfully works as an individual, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft work crew. Performs work with minimal supervision.
Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
Reads and understands basic work specifications, blueprints and schematics.
Connects and disconnects all of ship's electrical systems.
Pulls cable and makes proper radiuses and crossovers.
Troubleshoots basic motor starters, electrical circuits, and equipment.
Work as a maintenance electrician and/or construction electrician.
Installation and fabrication of packing tube, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit, and raceways.
Works with boilermakers performing proper shipboard layout.
Sets up and maintains power distribution.
Sets up and maintains telephone installation on ship.
Properly cares for and safely uses hand and power tools and all company property.
Recognizes a need to suggest CFRs.
Incumbent performs work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Communicates effectively, works independently or in a group.
Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply.
Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
Basic knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
Proper use of a voltage tester, multi meter, and a megger.
Power generation, control and distribution.
Electric motors and controls.
Grounding and bonding.
Cable - identification, size requirements and ampacity limits or where to find the information.
Fabrication and installation of packing tubes, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit, and raceways.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred or 10th grade education with 2 years of relevant work experience or training. Training or education that indicates basic understanding of manufacturing and/or construction practices.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Four-hour fire watch certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
HAZWOPER - First Responder Awareness Level must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Marine Electrician must transfer tools, parts to/from area of need. Requires vertically transferring tools, parts, weighing up to (10 lbs.) from (4") to (76"), up to (30/hr.).
Marine Electrician must transfer raceways to/from area of need. Requires vertically transferring raceways weighing up to (30 lbs.) from (4") to (76"), up to (2/hr.).
Marine Electrician must transfer ladder to/from area of need. Requires vertically/horizontally transferring ladder weighing up to (30 lbs.) from (36") to (40"), up to (25/hr.), a distance of up to (5 feet) without mechanical assistance.
Marine Electrician must transfer equipment to/from area of need. Requires vertically/horizontally transferring equipment weighing up to (50 lbs.) from (5") to (54"), up to (5/hr.), a distance of up to (50 feet) without mechanical assistance.
Marine Electrician must transfer with assistance splice box to/from area of need. Requires vertically/horizontally transferring splice box weighing up to (50 lbs.) from (4") to (48"), up to (1/hr.), a distance of up to (20 feet) without mechanical assistance.
Marine Electrician must drag electrical shore power cable to/from area of need. Must horizontally transfer electrical shore power cable requiring a force up to (50 lbs.), up to (4/hr.), a distance up to (50 ft.).
Marine Electrician must pull wire/cable, cut electrical cable, use hand tools to connect/disconnect electrical systems. Requires upper body forces up to (50 lbs.), up to (30/hr.).
Marine Electrician must cut, strip, crimp cable/wire requiring coupling forces up to (25 lbs.), up to (25/hr.).
Marine Electrician must access job locations, overhead wire/cables, scaffolding, masts. Requires climbing ladder up to 200 rungs/hr. in (8hr.).
Marine Electrician must access vessels, job locations. Requires climbing stairs up to 180 steps/hr. in (8hr.).
Marine Electrician must access voids, tanks, bilge areas. Must access spaces with specific entries (15") x (21").
Marine Electrician must access vessel work locations, masts; works on lifts, scaffolding. Must tolerate heights up to (100 ft.).
Marine Electrician must access cabinets to connect/disconnect electrical systems. Must work in spaces with limited headroom of (36 in.).
Marine Electrician must connect/disconnect electrical systems. Requires repetitive assumption of posture to access a point (1 inches) from the floor up to (30/hr.).
Marine Electrician must pull, straighten, secure electrical wires and cables. Requires repetitive assumption of posture to access a point (76 inches) from the floor up to (120/hr.).
Marine Electrician may sit to connect, disconnect electrical systems. Requires tolerance of seated posture up to (30 min.) continuously, for a total of up to (4 hr.) per (8 hr.).
Marine Electrician must stand to pull cable, troubleshoot electrical problems, install electrical equipment, set up/maintain ship telephone systems. Requires tolerance of standing posture up to (2 hr.) continuously, for a total of up to (8 hr.) per (8 hr.).
Marine Electrician must tolerate working environment with inside ambient temperatures.
Marine Electrician must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures.
Marine Electrician requires (near/far/depth/color) vision to connect/disconnect electrical systems; to pull cable, troubleshoot electrical problems, install electrical equipment, set up/maintain ship telephone systems.
Marine Electrician must access shop, tools, vessels, job location. Requires walking up to (3.0 mi.), in (8 hr.).
Talking: Frequently talks in person or over the telephone or radio to ensure safety and coordinate work efforts.
Hearing: Frequently listens to information from others, either in person or over the telephone or radio, to coordinate work efforts and ensure safety.
Vision: Continually uses vision primarily for fine work, but also to observe surrounding area.
Near Acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less): Frequently needed in fine detail work.
Far Acuity (clarity of vision at 20 feet or more): Necessary for job safety while moving about shipyard and on-board ship.
Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision to judge distance/ spatial relationships): Necessary for safety while maneuvering around ship.
Color Vision (if required to distinguish colors for job performance or safety): Necessary for identifying color coded wires.
Field of Vision (if required to observe a large field of vision while keeping eye fixed on a given point for job performance or safety): Necessary to safely move about ship.
Smell: Helpful to identify smoke/fire potential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works indoors: Frequently works indoors inside a ship or shop.
Works outdoors: Frequently exposed to typical outdoor weather while working around shipyard.
Safety equipment required: Hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, long sleeved shirts, leather shoes or boots, and a respirator.
Other Exposures: May be exposed to smoke, acids, oil, grease, free silica, asbestos dust, paint, solvents and risk of electrical shock.
Operation of equipment/tools/vehicles: Uses hand and power tools, as well as electrical testing equipment.
Required hygiene standards: Per company standards.
