Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will be supporting various accounting functions for our organization, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing for annual audits, processing accounts payable, and assisting with budget planning. This role also involves monitoring and processing federal and state grants.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger on a regular basis

Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement

Monitor and reconcile fixed assets and perform monthly reconciliations of receivables and liability accounts

Assist with recording and posting all program revenues, and reconcile monthly state aid revenues

Assist in the preparation and processing of accounts payable, including annual 1099 tax forms to vendors

Manage company credit cards, including issuance, cancellation, and processing of monthly statements

Assist in preparing year-end audit work papers and participate in annual audits as needed

Submit approved federal and state grant draw requests and track funds when received

Post and reconcile the semi-monthly payroll to the general ledger and process the benefit allocations on a monthly basis

Assist with monitoring and processing bank transactions, prepare and reconcile bank account statements, and track investments

Assist with the set-up and reporting for school meal programs and prepare quarterly special education reports

Assist in the annual insurance renewal process and budget planning for schools and the management company

Prepare various reports as required by regulatory agencies. Requirements - Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of accounting.

Proficiency in Account Reconciliation is required.

Capability in Balance Sheet Reconciliation is essential.

Candidate should have skills in conducting Bank Reconciliations.

Knowledge and application of General Ledger is necessary.

Competency in creating and maintaining Journal Entries is needed.

Proficiency in Excel for various accounting tasks is expected.

Ability to handle Month End Close procedures is a must.

Experience in Grant Accounting is a prerequisite.

Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) processes is obligatory.

Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting is required.

Working knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics is essential.
