EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN: EMERGENCY SERVICES

HOURS: All shifts as assigned SALARY: $22.66 - $28.84 per hour

Part Time & Per Diem

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for effectively delivering basic emergency care and treatment in varied, sometimes physically demoing situations to those who are sick or injured. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a New York State certified emergency responder. The EMT makes definitive patient care decisions under stressful situations, as well as effectively directing, or working with, others at the emergency scene. Work is performed in the office and in the field. The work is performed under the clinical supervision of the assigned supervisor and administrative supervision of the Director of Fire and Emergency Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by the New York State Department of Education AND possession of a current certification as an EMT from the New York State Department of Health, which must be maintained through employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AT TIME OF APPLICATION AND DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT:

EMT Certification issued by the New York State Department of Health;

Possession of a valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification.

Possession of a valid New York State drivers license appropriate for the vehicles operated, and a driving record acceptable to the County of Wyomings insurance carrier;

Must authorize and execute any necessary releases to enable the appointing authority to

verify licensure and driving history involving violations and /or crimes;

Meet the qualifications and competencies set for in the EMT Functional Position Description by the NYS Department of Health for the duration of employment.

NOTES:

Candidates MUST submit a copy of transcripts showing degree area and date degree conferred with application.

Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/ U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of equivalency.
