Develops a team of individual contributors and/or Supervisors, and is accountable for conducting effective performance management. Develops tactical and operational plans for the Manufacturing Assembly team and supports organizational objectives and business goals. Allocates resources to meet objectives and goals of the Manufacturing Assembly area. Directs operations for critical initiatives and serves as a primary point of contact for internal collaborators. Responsible for managing all operations related to manufacturing, materials, facilities., distribution, engineering and maintenance to ensure smooth, continuous, cost effective and controlled manufacture of products in support of the business' forecasts and inventory goals.This position manages all manufacturing and support activities within the Manufacturing Value Stream organization to produce biomaterial components for medical devices. The position is responsible for leading the production of biomaterial components in a Value Stream to fulfill global planning schedules, within determined quality and safety standards. This position facilitates, develops and provides direction to assigned direct staff. This position works closely with Engineering, Quality and line management to achieve business goals. This position manages department activities in the pursuit of organizational goals and leads year on year improvements within the value stream.
Key Role Responsibilities
In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Manages a team of individual contributors and/or Supervisors, and is accountable for conducting effective performance management.
Develops tactical and operational plans to achieve Manufacturing Assembly goals, and communicates plans to managers, supervisors, and individual contributors.
Allocates resources in order to coordinate all aspects of Manufacturing Assembly improvement initiatives.
Coaches staff to ensure optimal use of manufacturing staff and assembly line machinery/equipment, and monitors the quality of output to identify, discard, or re-manufacture faulty products.
Responsible for managing operational aspects of their team (e.g., workflow, performance, and compliance), as well as ensuring achievement of team goals within established timelines and budgets.
Integrates Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making.
Creates and maintains an environment of innovative continuous improvement, focusing on quality, cost reduction, process development and capacity.
Manages supervisory and operations personnel working in the Value Stream, including developing people at all levels to grow within and beyond their current roles. Provides input into Operations strategic plans and activities.
Reviews and aligns with all regulatory, operational and personnel policies and procedures (including but not limited to safety, environmental, quality, employee relations), recommending changes as appropriate.
Ensures regular communication of business performance results to all relevant employees.
Work in team environment behaving in a CREDO based respectful manner.
Align with and enforce all regulatory requirements and company policies/procedures including but not limited to Quality System Regulations (QSR's), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and Standards of Behavior.
Qualifications
Required Skills
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
Basic or advanced computer and database management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.
A degree in an engineering or technical field is preferred.
Generally, Requires 6-8 Years Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing and/or equipment development and/or project management and/or installation and qualification is required.
A minimum of 3 years experience managing direct reports as a Facilitator and/or Manager is required.
Experience in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Experience managing compliance associated with quality and/or regulatory and safety policies are preferred.
Statistical and analytical problem solving
Preferred Skills
Green Belt and/or Black Belt Certification, Lean Manufacturing Certification, Six Sigma
Medical industry experience
Quality Systems such as ISO and QSR
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and ME2
Operations Management, including resources, capacity planning and Project Management
Financial concepts applied to Manufacture, including budgets and cost control
