Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role involves manually filling prescriptions, replenishing medications for automated dispensing stations, packaging medications, and stocking packages. You will also maintain pharmacy systems and technology, ensuring accurate data and compliance with policies and regulations. The position supports a fast-paced production environment, where attention to detail and efficiency are essential. This is an automated central fill pharmacy, which means no direct customer service or vaccine administration is required.
Responsibilities
Manually fill prescriptions
Replenish medications for automated dispensing stations
Package medications and stock packages
Maintain pharmacy systems and technology, including inventory systems and automated medication counting machines
Monitor inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals
Troubleshoot pill cell issues throughout production
Track medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations
Restock and replenish medication in appropriate locations, report low stock levels, and ensure stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis
Perform inventory cycle counts and assist with physical counts for inventories
Create reports using inventory information systems and monitor prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals
Support facility with reporting and paperwork to ensure productivity and pharmaceutical integrity
Enter and modify pharmaceutical data on systems and forms, process and submit paperwork
Create and maintain documentation and communications
Identify and resolve discrepancies in records or files
Prepare reports of pharmacy activities and inventory
Inform management about incorrect or inefficient processes and improper service procedures
Ensure fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy to maintain continuous and consistent workflow
Use scanner to identify and select pharmaceutical products and quantities for prescription orders
Verify size and strength of products before processing orders
Label prescriptions, weigh medication for accuracy, and prepare packages for distribution
Essential Skills
Pharmacy Technician license
Pharmacy Technician certification
Registered Pharmacy Technician in Indiana
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
PTCB certification
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy
Holds an active/valid national certification certificate issued by PTCB or NHA (ExCPT)
Preferred: Retail or warehouse experience
Preferred: Prior experience in a central fill, pill-pak, specialty/mail order production pharmacy/shipping department
Ability to move, lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
Work Environment
This is a fast-paced production environment that requires a high level of attention to detail. Unlike retail pharmacies that dispense substances directly to the patient, this Central Fill Pharmacy facility prepares and packages prescriptions for retail pharmacies to dispense to the patient. The facility operates with heavy automation practices and includes only registered pharmacy technicians, shipping, and receiving personnel. Work schedules are organized into 4-day, 10-hour shifts, with multiple shifts available including both first and second shifts. The facility is closed on Thanksgiving and other major holidays. Approximately 200 personnel work onsite, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and shipping/receiving coordinators.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.50/hr.
