POSITION FUNCTION

Under the direction of the program director, Afterschool director is responsible for daily supervision of the Afterschool program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 21

High school diploma or equivalent

Required to attend 20

hours of training annually as approved by licensing minimum standards

Must obtain CPR and FA certification

Experience preferred, but will train

Must agree to Child Abuse Prevention, and pre-service training once employed

Must have current Drivers license

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the safety of the children.

Supervision of all staff, making sure everyone is on time and ready to go.

Making sure that agreed upon staff to child ratios are maintained

Monitor use of supplies, equipment and facilities.

Participate in program planning and implementation.

Teach activities and skills

Enforce all rules and policies

Follow appropriate discipline/documentation procedure and employees as needed and

Ensure that all staff are clocking in /out daily.

Administer emergency procedure, make sure there is proper documentation.

Maintain good personal relationships with campers, parents and staff.

Report and illness or injury of a child or staff member to the site director immediately following incident.

Relate and communicate to school personnel.

Coordinate work schedules based on campers attendance.

Coordinate with program director fieldtrips, camp activities and supplies

Know and relate all program rules.

Attend all scheduled staff meetings, training, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the program director.

Report any suspected cases of child abuse to program director.

Report to the program director regarding all matters concerning job responsibilities

Know and abide by the YMCA Standards of Conduct

Communicate with parents when discipline is needed along with positive reinforcement to both parent and child.
