Job Summary

The Substitute School Nurse promotes the health and well-being of students and staff by providing professional nursing services within a school setting

in the absence of the regular School Nurse.

The

Substitute School Nurse

supports academic success by managing chronic conditions, responding to emergencies, and coordinating care with families, educators, and community health providers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Current Virginia State LPN or RegisteredNurseLicense

Must have current First Aid Certification and CPR card.

Must provide own Professional Liability Insurance

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have basic computer skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain calm in crisis or emergency situations.

Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and theschoolcommunity.

Ability to deal compassionately with a variety of students.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to perform duties in accordance with all district and state requirements and policies.

Ability to assess and provide care for ill or injured students.

Ability to perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or administration.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard school environment with occasional exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. May be required to assist with occasional outside or field activities.

Flexible schedule to meet school needs.
