Job Summary

The Buyer role is responsible for analyzing and purchasing products and materials for distribution to our customers. It is key for this role to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers as well as our vendor partners.

Essential Functions

Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors to enhance collaboration, communication, and trust, resulting in improved service levels.

Partner with the Product Management team to align on inventory needs.

Partner with the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) to ensure shipment quality.

Collaborate with primary team members and cross functional teams to implement process improvements and adopt best practices.

Partner with the Pricing department to assure price alignment.

Purchase products as well as prepare and issue purchase and change orders.

Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and returns with vendors to achieve cost savings and provide the most favorable business outcomes possible.

Complete product returns to vendors.

Reconcile vendor invoices and credits.

Monitor and approve the transfer of material between the warehouse locations to balance stock, replenish inventory, or fill backorders.

Monitor inventory reports, demand, history, and cycle time to maintain proper inventory levels needed to achieve the necessary unit turns.

Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability

Required Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Supply Chain or related field

2-5 years of experience working in supply chain

2-5 years of customer service experience

2-5 years of experience working cross functionally with other departments

Knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft office products including Excel, Outlook and Word

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or related field

5+ years of experience working as a Buyer or related function

Experience with six sigma or lean processes

Experience working in distribution and/or the electrical industry
