Program Assistant Job Description

Part time

The Program Assistant must be capable of handling day to day operations of the Center including making decisions in the absence of the Director.

They must be highly motivated, self-starter, who recognize the needs of the business daily and take the initiative to complete all tasks, each day.

Coordinate volunteers and staff in the implementation of services and programs. Complete daily and weekly tasks to support the Director in the execution of programs and services, to meet the vison of the Board of Directors to achieve the Galveston Seafarers Centers mission.

They will promote a positive image about the organization, who we help, and our purpose

Qualifications/Skills

Professional etiquette and social skills

Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Basic computer skills

Basic accounting skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Experience with Microsoft Office programs

Must know how to operate and maintain office equipment

Report and statistics maintenance

Inventory management

Volunteer and staff coordination

Foster relationships

Over the age of 25

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs , and simultaneously climb stairs repeatedly

Daily cleaning is required of all employees

Experience and understanding of multicultural environments

Standing for long periods of time

Schedule may vary. We are open seven days a week; hours 8a -3p. A schedule will be worked out, with a shift from 7:30/7:45a - 3-3:30p, minimum of one weekend day will be required. 20-30 hours/week.
