Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of UniqueSource's marketing and communications initiatives in alignment with the strategic direction set by senior leadership. This position ensures that all marketing outputs---including digital content, print materials, and event promotion---accurately reflect the organization's priorities, brand identity, and commitment to accessibility.

Working under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team, this individual translates organizational priorities into coordinated marketing actions, manages engagements with external vendors and marketing partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and timely materials. The role also supports the organization's government relations and public affairs efforts by ensuring that messaging to agencies, legislators, Members, and partners is consistent, professional, and strategically aligned. This position requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, strong political and stakeholder awareness, and the ability to ensure that all marketing efforts reinforce UniqueSource's mission and strategic objectives across diverse audiences.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Marketing Execution & Oversight

Implement marketing and communications initiatives as directed by the senior leadership team.

Translate executive priorities into actionable project plans and oversee execution across digital, print, and event channels.

Manages engagements with external vendors and marketing partners to ensure deliverables meet scope, standards, and deadlines.

Oversee updates to the UniqueSource website, digital platforms, and social media channels to ensure consistency, timeliness, and accessibility.

Coordinate internal review and approval processes for all materials prior to publication or release.

Brand, Messaging & Communications Alignment

Ensure all marketing content and messaging align with the direction and tone established by the President & CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

Maintain brand standards and uphold the organization's voice across all communications.

Coordinate messaging and materials that support government relations, agency partnerships, and legislative communications in collaboration with the President & CEO and Government Relations team.

Ensure marketing outputs appropriately address the needs of diverse stakeholder groups, including Commonwealth agencies, legislators, advocacy partners, and Member organizations.

Support the preparation and distribution of materials for board, agency, and stakeholder audiences, ensuring consistency with approved messaging.

Accessibility & Inclusion

Ensure all marketing materials and platforms meet or exceed WCAG AA standards.

Collaborate with senior leadership and external partners to ensure inclusive design and accessible messaging are integrated throughout all materials.

Serve as an internal resource for accessible communication practices.

Events & Public Engagement

Plan and coordinate logistics for UniqueSource-hosted events, conferences, and outreach activities as directed by senior leadership.

Manage event-related marketing, vendor contracts, and communications to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

Oversee accessibility and brand presentation at all events and public engagement.

Administrative & Strategic Support

Develop and manage marketing budgets, schedules, and reporting systems.

Track marketing performance metrics and provide updates to the Senior Leadership Team.

Maintain organized records of marketing assets, templates, and collateral.

Support internal communications related to branding, events, and announcements as directed.

Travel as required.

Team Management & Administrative Oversight

Supervise staff performance, training, coaching, and professional development.

Promote a culture of safety, ethics, and accountability in alignment with UniqueSource's core values.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.

Minimum 5 years of experience leading marketing, communications, public relations, and managing projects and vendors within a complex organization.

Demonstrated success working with external marketing agencies or vendors.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience in non-profit or mission-driven settings.

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA) and commitment to inclusive communications.

Familiarity with government relations.

Salesforce or other CRM software experience.

Social media platform and aggregator tools experience.
