Residents and faculty from the University of Kansas School of Medicine--Wichitas Internal Medicine Department provide patient care through our clinic. As a Triage Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role on our clinical team, supporting new and experienced providers. We are dedicated to continuous quality improvement while providing high quality, efficient health care to patients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responds to calls and messages from patients, triaging and

prioritizing requests for clinical advice, communicating adjustments in care plans, prescription refills, test results, prior authorizations, forms completion, and coordinating care with providers and other nursing team members

Enters and coordinates provider orders for medications, lab,

imaging, DME, etc., monitors outstanding orders and follows-up to verify if completed and/or obtain results

Refills medications as authorized per protocol and as ordered by the

provider(s)and obtains insurance authorizations as needed

Completes insurance forms and paperwork for patients at the

direction of the providers

Performs care-related tasks such as administration of immunizations

and injections, blood pressure checks, CLIA-waived lab testing, suture/staple removal, EKGs, wound care and assisting with in-office procedures

Administers and records screening tests in development, hearing, and

vision as ordered

Assists providers during exams and procedures as needed

Assists with clean up in the team room at end of day; secures PHI,

locks all necessary cabinets; checks refrigerator temperatures; counts narcotics/controlled substances (if applicable)

Provides and documents chronic care management services and

population health management activities as assigned

Participating in clinic process improvement activities and team

meetings to ensure efficient operations

Reliable attendance and punctuality

Performing other duties as assigned
