Position Summary

The Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst performs advance professional accounting and financial analysis in support of the Town's financial operations. This role serves as a senior accounting resource responsible for complex reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end coordination, budget analysis, forecasting, audit coordination, and internal control oversight. The Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst exercised a high degree of independent judgement, provides technical expertise, identifies process improvements, and delivers financial analysis to support organizational planning and decision-making.

Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.

Perform complex general ledger reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies.

Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.

Lead preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and coordination with external auditors.

Perform budget-to-actual analysis and identify significant variances and trends.

Develop revenue and expenditure forecasts to support budget planning and financial decision-making.

Analyze financial performance and prepare recommendations for management.

Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, Town policies, and regulatory requirements.

Review and approve complex journal entries and account reconciliations.

Conduct technical accounting research and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.

Assist with development and implementation of accounting policies and financial procedures.

Support annual budget development and long-range financial planning.

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Provide guidance and technical assistance to accounting staff and departmental personnel.

Participate in financial system implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.

Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership, Town Board, and external agencies as assigned.

Monitor compliance with grant requirements, debt reporting, and other governmental financial obligations.
