The Division of Career and Technical Education is recruiting for full-time, six-month, non-tenure track instructors to teach Commercial Truck Driving (Class B) for the Workforce and Continuing Education Department.

Classes will begin in July 2025.

Position may include the role of Program Coordinator. Class size is limited to four students per tractor.

Starting earned monthly salary for the twelve-month position is $5043.78.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing instruction to students in a meaningful classroom and laboratory learning environment.

In this role, you will work with students both in the classroom and on the road. Job duties focus on teaching them to operate a Class B Commercial vehicle safely in a structured area as well as on public roads, and to learn the skills necessary to pass their states CDL exam.

Qualifications

Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years related work experience

In lieu of a degree, 5 years combined truck driving and teaching truck driving experience

Active/Current Class A Commercial Driver's License

Current medical examination certificate issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT)

Expertise in 49 CRF Part 380, Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT mandate)

Endorsements (tanker, doubles, triples) preferred

Current HAZMAT endorsement or ability to get within the first 90 days of hire

Must provide driving record

Must be willing to submit to DOT drug/alcohol and physical exam

Must be willing to submit to a background check

Must be willing to submit to a driver evaluation

Physical Demands

Exhibit keyboarding skills with knowledge of MS Office

Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty pounds

Sit or stand for extended periods of time (10 hours.)

Bend, kneel, reach

Utilize telephone system

Good communication skills
