Certified Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities and duties:

Must be able to work a schedule Monday - Friday with some weekends.

Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring.

Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers

AC and other duties as assigned

Wear proper PPE and company uniform

Diagnose and repair company vehicles and equipment, including heavy duty trucks, medium duty trucks, light duty autos, tank trailers, flatbed trailers, and small product pumps and fuel tanks

Develop and mentor the companys less senior maintenance personnel

Follow standard operating procedures when diagnosing, repairing, and recording work completed on the companys vehicles

Analyze and produce AFE and requests as needed

Review vendor quotes for accuracy and verify repairs when complete

Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects

Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment

Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment, is required

Confer with management teams to provide specialized solutions to meet customer requirements

Recommend improvement to existing or planned processes and equipment design

Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules

Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

Completion of maintenance inspections and checklists

Assemble, disassemble, inspect, repair and install components on vehicles - including engines and powertrain

Work may include all vehicle components or systems including engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, electrical, HVAC, cooling, interiors, cabs, frames

Qualifications:

Must have excellent evaluation skills, mechanical, and strong math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Must have a two-year degree in automotive or diesel mechanics with at least 1 year of on-the-job experience OR 2-3 year of on-the-job diesel mechanic experience

Hydraulic diagnosis and repair

Commercial Drivers License a plus but not required
