Basic Purpose

Drive a tanker to the rail yard, pick-up and deliver our resin into resin silos located at the plant

Essential Functions

Pick up resin at the local rail yard and deliver resin to the plant as needed based on specific product and production needs.

Driving (including operating ELD if needed)

Responsible for the securement and protection of the product.

Pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Additional Responsibilities

Responsible for food safety.

Represent Silgan Closures in a professional manner, with a high degree of respect for existing and potential customers.

Maintain a clean and safe working area.

Responsible for routinely checking silos to ensure that waste resin is cleaned up and properly disposed of.

Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Report any food safety and quality problems or concerns to the Plant Quality Manager.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Periods of sitting, reaching, stooping/kneeling/bending over 2/3 of time spent on the job.

Using hands to finger, handle, or feel over 2/3 of time spent on the job.

Periods of reaching, climbing, talking/hearing, light lifting/carrying 1/3 to 2/3 of time spent on the job with occasional lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds.

Periods of walking and standing under 1/3 of time spent on the job.

Vision requirement includes close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Climate

Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a productive nature under general supervision in which occasionally work is checked while in progress and work is reviewed upon completion.

Exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, for which Personal Protective Equipment is provided.

Production environment contains high voltage electrical devices.

Periods of working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (i.e. on ladders or scaffolding at heights above 20 feet)

High exposure to dust and/or fumes.

Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, heat).

Periodic exposure to wet or slippery surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications

Class A CDL

One to three months related experience and/or training.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must possess attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
