Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the health and well-being of students by providing direct nursing services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or school nurse supervisor. The LPN promotes a safe and healthy school environment and assists in the implementation of individual health care plans, medication administration, first aid, and emergency care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, illness assessment, and emergency response.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policy.

Assist with screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) and documentation.

Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures) in collaboration with the RN.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date health records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and healthcare providers.

Assist in the implementation of individualized healthcare and emergency plans.

Follow proper infection control and hygiene protocols.

Support the overall health office operations, including inventory management and maintaining confidentiality.

Participate in professional development and required trainings (e.g., CPR, first aid).

Perform other related duties as assigned.
