Part-time Bookkeeper/Accountant needed for a Sanpete County landfill. The position is a part-time contract position to provide Bookkeeping functions of landfill scale recordings, invoicing, bank reconciliations; to include all recording and accounting functions. The bookkeeper/accountant will provide reporting to both the Administrator and the Financial Officer for his/her reports to the state.

Position Details:

Position Title: Sanpete County Landfill Co-Op Bookkeeper/Accountant (Part-Time Contract)

Salary Range: $24,000.00 -- $36,000.00 per year (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

Probationary Period: Yes, 90 days before the position is guaranteed

Experience & Qualifications:

Complete all Landfill Bookkeeping, Accounting, Reporting Operations

Coordinating and implementing computer programs

o Submit list of training and certifications your have achieved relating to accounting

o Minimum of 2 years' experience implementing computer accounting and reporting systems

Accounting & Reporting:

o Familiarity with retrieving reports remotely, verifying accounting records, invoicing, and fee schedule adjustments; experience in preparing financial reports and coordinating independent audit

Landfill Bookkeeper/Accountant Responsibilities:

Responsible for:

All accounting processing and recording functions,

Billing the cities and towns for services each month,

Collecting scale produced tonnage data from each location, preparing a tonnage report and to the controller/CFO for reporting to the state,

Processing, recording, and depositing all payments received by check or credit cards,

Maintaining and controlling the accounts receivable/payables systems,

Reviewing and processing all vendor invoices for propriety and correctness, Submit all Invoices to Administrator for initialed approval

Printing checks from Administrator approved list and deliver to Administrator to obtain dual signatures and mailing.

Reconciling the bank statements, delivery copy to Administrator and CFO

Forwarding the bank reconciliations and tonnage reports to the controller/CFO for his review and verification of correctness

Additional Notes:

At present this position is a work from home position. The applicant will be furnished a computer, printer/copier/scanner and office supplies. Records will be stored on the landfill computer with back up stored on an external hard drive along with hard copies filed.
