SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Overnight Security Officer is responsible for keeping guests and property safe during the night shift. To be visible to both guests and employees, being proactive in preventing disturbances before they start. This position requires a keen eye for detail, as the Officer must monitor all areas of the property to ensure any suspicious activity is promptly reported.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties of an Overnight Security Officer include, but are not limited to, conducting routine patrols, monitoring CCTV cameras, and responding to any guest requests or emergencies. Additionally, they must be knowledgeable about the property's safety protocols and emergency procedures/contacts. They must remain alert throughout the shift and handle any situation calmly and effectively.

Patrol and monitor hotel grounds during overnight shifts to ensure the safety and security of the premises, guests and personnel.

Patrol the propertys interior ground and back of the house area.

Patrol hallways, parking lots, stairwells, lobby, bar and restaurant.

Ensure all guest room doors are closed and all public access doors are locked.

Responsible for maintaining clear and concise logs of all nightly occurrences, and suspicious activity.

Monitor entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other individuals to maintain the security of the premises.

Security officers might also need to evict loiterers or trespassers from time to time.

Escort any unwelcome persons from the property without interrupting the orderly flow of property operation.

Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, including contacting emergency services if necessary and reporting any issues/situations to General Manager.

Report any suspicious activities, incidents, or violations of policies and procedures to the General Manager

Conduct regular checks of security equipment and ensure they are in good working condition.

Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, providing information, and assisting with any guests concerns or issues that may arise.

Assist with emergency situations, such as evacuations or medical emergencies.

Identify potential security risks and respond/report accordingly.

Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.

Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed.
