Adult Education Construction Trainer

Job Goal: To provide instruction to adult education students on introductory topics for construction and industrial trades in the areas of safety, construction math, understanding construction drawings, knowledge of specific hand tools and power tools.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or industry related experience in industrial, construction or other technical trades. Combination of education and experience to successfully perform essential duties of the job.

Completion of NCCER trade training preferred.

Journey-level license if applicable, certificate or degree.

Five (5) years of experience in the commercial or industrial fields.

Experience in training or teaching adult populations.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of program regulations, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of community resources, beneficial to the adult education population.

Knowledge of worksite safety codes, procedures and practices, preferable knowledgeable of OSHA rules and regulations.

Knowledge of material handling guidelines and practices.

Knowledge of construction drawings.

Knowledge of foundations of applied (construction) mathematics, including measurements, scales, fractions, and conversions.

Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools.

Knowledge and understanding of safety and housekeeping for a safe training environment.

Major Responsibilities:

Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials through classroom and lab instruction.

Maintain accurate student accounting records in compliance with program requirements.

Provide counsel/guidance to students when there is a need.

Apply researched-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
