Job Title: Billing Clerk

Pay Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Sr. Billing Coordinator/Operations Manager

Primary Responsibility

Responsibilities include ensuring timely submission and filing of claims and documentation supporting those claims. Adhere to the Corporate Compliance Plan and ensure ethical practices are used in billing practices.

Specific Duties

Filing

Preparation of Admissions/Referral Package

Patient Home Care Records - keep contents organized

Monitor office supply levels of documents necessary to make up Admission Packets and report to Sr. Billing Coordinator when additional supplies are needed.

Completing and submitting TARs, SARs, Authorizations, etc. for billing purposes.

Maintain all billing files

Ensure all Aging files are worked and kept to a minimum

Posting of EOMBs

Electronic billing

Billing of secondary and third party pay sources.

Maintain Records Confidentiality

Ensure confidential handling, storage, filing of all patient related documents and information both inside and outside the office

Other Responsibilities

Other duties as may be assigned by management

Qualifications

High School education or equivalent

Ability to work in a diverse population

Graduate of medical billing course or adequate on the job training

At least one (1) year experience in medical billing or related field

At least 18 years of age

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects and tasks; detail and process oriented

Articulate precisely and pleasantly in both written and verbal communication to other staff members
