A full Time position in the Equalization Office Document Specialist in accordance with Section 9.11 of the USWA Local 8569 agreement. Starting salary and benefit package as provided for in the union contract. Hours of work is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday -- Friday.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Analyze documents submitted for recording by title companies, attorneys and the general public to ensure accuracy and completeness for the purpose of updating property owners, determining "transfers of ownership" and updating principal residence exemptions. Maintain portion of computerized database relating to property owners, addresses, legal descriptions and sale information through data entry of all valid changes.

Collects and processes receipts of various fees and revenues as well as invoices and vouchers. Communicates with customers in person, in writing and over the phone, and assists title companies, attorneys and the general public with records search and retrieval of land and tax information. Responsible for filing and maintaining related records and performs other related duties as required.

Performs related duties as required by and/or requested by, the Equalization Director.

EDUCATION:

Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent, supplemented by courses in legal descriptions, Property Tax law, computer literacy, Excel and BS&A Software.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of legal descriptions relating to property, with the ability to draw, if necessary, using an engineer's scale and protractor; working knowledge of legal documents relating to the transfer of real estate; ability to use keyboard controlled data input devices to input and retrieve data; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; knowledge of office methods and procedures; ability to make minor decisions independently and to apply departmental policy to everyday work procedures; ability to operate standard office equipment including a computer; ability to communicate effectively with the general public and to work well under pressure with fixed deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Constant work inside the office in a sedentary posture. Filing may require reaching, bending or kneeling.

WORK HAZARDS:

Possible vision dysfunction due to heavy computer work.
