SUMMARY:

The

Staff Accountant

is an integral member of professional and administrative support persons in the Finance Department. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions that take place in the general ledger, affecting the balance sheet and the income statement. As well as assisting the Controller and CFO with some of the larger financial projects, such as the annual budget, financial statement audits, tax return preparation and Medicare cost report.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Hybridposition in Reno, NV

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required

Minimum of 3 years working as an accountant required,5 years preferred

Understands and can apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office package involving Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

Experience in non-profit or FQHC preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Responsible for maintaining and preparing the general ledger financial transactions.

Performs general ledger reconciliation, research variance and make corrections as necessary.

Review general ledger for discrepancies and miscoded transactions.

Responsible for monthly bank account reconciliations for all bank accounts.

Creates standard, and non-standard recurring and required month end journal entries for review and approval by the Controller.

Responsible to review the trends on the income statement and create accrual entries at month end.

Prepares monthly departmental balance sheets and income statements and distributes to leaders in the organization.

Assist with accounting for fixed assets and grant accounting functions.

Assists with annual budget preparation and forecasting

Provides audit and single audit assistance - prepares schedules and reconciliations as requested. Responds to inquiries from the auditors as directed by the Controller and CFO.

Provides Form 990 assistance - assists in gathering information required for the preparation as directed by the Controller and CFO.
