Position Summary:

This position plays a pivotal role where you will be advocating for the well-being of children placed in foster care, working closely with biological and foster families to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. As a Foster Care Case Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to guide and support children through challenging transitions, ensuring they receive the care, stability, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Summary of Essential Job Function:

Attend child welfare related trainings, including attending the 8- week Child Welfare Training Institute

Make at least monthly face to face contact with foster child(ren); once a quarter, face to face contact can occur outside of the foster home.

Make at least monthly face to face contact with biological parents; once a quarter, face to face contact must occur in the biological parents' home.

Identify needs and strengths of the child and family through initial and quarterly assessments.

Develop realistic, strength-based individual treatment goals with child, biological parents, and foster parents in order to meet the permanency goal for the child in a timely manner.

Complete reports required by Child and Family Services, MDHHS, and the court in a timely manner.

Develop positive working relationships with DHHS, the Courts, Attorneys, and other external partners.

Acquire knowledge of community resources and make appropriate referrals for the family.

Monitor various service providers to ensure that the needs of the child and family are being met (including school, counseling services, medical professionals, etc.).

Design a behavioral management plan with youth, foster parents and biological parents.

Coordinate and supervise parenting time, as ordered by the court, between the child and biological parents in order to foster parent/child bond.

Facilitate, lead, and/or participate in Family Team Meetings in order to discuss the family's treatment plan, identify any needs, and progress towards achieving the permanency goal.

Respond to calls from clients, foster parents and other service personnel on a timely basis.

Possess strong communication skills, including de-escalation techniques.

Maintain up to date client records, including case notes, medical records, educational records, and service records.

Develop a positive working rapport with other service personnel (schools, CMH, MDHHS, courts, therapists, etc.).

Discuss the case with supervisor and other child welfare workers in order to ensure that timeliness and effectiveness of services/reports.

Be able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.

Testify at court hearings and proceedings. Maintain regular contact with attorneys, therapists, and other providers; be able to make recommendations to the court in regard to the best interest of the child and family.

Participate in a regular on-call schedule.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

required in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare, adoption, foster care, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of child protection laws, foster care regulations, and adoption procedures preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and community partners.

Ability to manage caseloads and work independently while maintaining a high level of empathy and professionalism.
