Job Opening: Meteorologist / Reporter (MMVJ)

Nexstar Media Group is looking for a dynamic, driven, and versatile Meteorologist / Reporter (MMVJ) to join our news team in San Angelo, TX. This hybrid role combines strong forecasting and storytelling skills with the ability to shoot, write, edit, and report news and weather stories across multiple platforms.

About the Role:

This is not your typical on-air job. We're seeking a self-starter with a passion for weather and news, someone whos a team player, has strong oral and written communication skills, and thrives under pressure. Youll work closely with our weather and news teams to deliver high-quality, engaging, and accurate content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce and present compelling weather and news reports across all platforms.

Ensure all content meets journalistic integrity and production quality standards.

Write and deliver stories in a clear, engaging, and concise manner.

Respond to breaking and severe weather events, as well as other urgent newsroom needs.

Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming.

Work closely with the weather team to ensure thorough and accurate coverage.

Write daily web stories detailing the local forecast.

Interact with viewers on social media, enhancing audience engagement.

Represent the station at community events and public appearances.

Report three days a week as a Multimedia Journalist (MMVJ).

Shoot and edit stories from start to finish.

Regularly update web and social media platforms with fresh content.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.

Strong ability to follow directions and adapt quickly.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Collaborative, yet confident working independently.

Comfortable juggling multiple deadlines and priorities.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Meteorology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Entry-level to 2 years experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.

Ability to shoot video and perform non-linear editing.

Strong writing skillscapable of crafting stories from beginning to end.

Familiarity with ENPS and Barrons Radar is a plus.

Proven track record of accurate weather forecasting.

Valid drivers license and clean driving record.

Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
