Occupational Summary:

The Assistant Professor of Nursing (faculty), who reports to the Director of BSN Programs in the School of Healthcare Professions, is responsible for delivering instruction, supervision of students in clinical settings, developing and evaluating curriculum, engaging in scholarly activities, and maintaining professional development and licensure. Additionally, some administrative functions may be assigned to align programs with accreditation requirements, under the direction of the Director of BSN Programs.

Faculty members contribute to the effectiveness of the University by working collaboratively on instructional policy, curriculum development, and staff development. They are models of educated persons, exemplifying the virtues they seek to inspire in students, including curiosity, tolerance, honesty, fairness, and respect for diversity.

Work Performed:

Demonstrates support of the university and school missions in daily work performance and interactions with faculty, staff, students, and the community of interest.

Participates in the implementation and delivery of the undergraduate nursing program to meet the mission, goals, and program outcomes.

Ensure the academic rigor and curriculum are in alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and licensure standards.

Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the undergraduate school of nursing's systematic evaluation plan in collaboration with the BSN program director.

Develop, monitor, and maintain programmatic academic policies ensuring consistency with school and university policies through the Admissions and Progressions Committee.

Participates in faculty mentoring and professional development.

Contributes and participates in meetings engaging in shared governance at the program, division, school, and university levels.

Be good stewards of program resources including facilities and equipment.

Collaborate and participate in special events and ceremonies as related to the program.

Participate in the development of strong campus and community partnerships.

Engage in recruitment and admissions of students into the program working with Admissions and the Director of BSN programs.

Create and maintain a culture of collaboration, trust, and accountability through responsive, professional, and positive communication with faculty, staff, and students.

Participates in assessment and improvement efforts at the program and university levels.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Possess a Kansas nursing license or multi-state license.

Master's degree in Nursing required or in progress.

Doctoral preparation preferred (DNAP, DNP, or PhD).

Minimum of 2 years in clinical practice.

Experience in academic nursing education or staff development preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
