Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse - the worker performs practical nursing work in the care and treatment of the L.T.S.R. residents.

Duties will include:

Preparing, recording and administering medications

Taking and recording vital signs

Maintaining resident medical records

Administering prescribed medical treatment

Ordering prescribed laboratory testing

Maintaining inventory of all pharmaceuticals

Observing and reporting resident behavioral changes

Completion of progress notes and administrative reports

Advising Mental Health Technicians of medical side effects and treatment precautions

Completing incident reports as required

Serves as a member of the treatment team

Other duties as required

Required/Recommended Skills

Licensure in practical nursing

Excellent interpersonal skills

Understanding of the symptoms and behavior of the mental health client

Record keeping

Assertive and capable of independent action when initiative required

Full realization of the ramifications of confidentiality

Education and Background Requirements

Graduate from a school of practical nursing approved by the State Board of Nurse Examiners. Act 34 Clearance. Three years of experience preferred.
