POSITION PURPOSE:

To process and file all incoming/outgoing paperwork from the Courts accurately and in a timely fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Receive orders from the Judges (custody, protection from abuse, domestic relations orders), enter data into computer and books, make copies and distribute.

Serve general public, providing records, making copies, searching records, and processing passports and naturalizations.

Answer multi-line telephone system.

Prior to court hearings provide Judge with information regarding payments; track payments for custody evaluations.

Issue bench warrants if individuals do not appear in court.

Serve as back-up for the 2nd Deputy Prothonotary and perform bookkeeping.

In conjunction with other department staff, open mail and distribute as needed.

Prepare cases for superior Court, including typing and completing required paperwork, notifying attorneys when ready for review, mailing copies, and sending to Court.

Maintain filing system, including preparing and sending old files to storage.

Assist with such other duties as may be assigned for the successful operation of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Secondary education in business administration helpful

Experience: 2 years experience in a business office

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to deal with emotionally upset individuals.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to function in a busy office and process a heavy workload.

Extensive computer knowledge with the willingness and ability to learn specialized programs.

Vision and hearing correctible to within normal ranges.
