McGraw Hill LLC seeks a Lead Software Engineer in Columbus, OH.

Duties: Design and implement sound engineering solutions that meet the business need. Be the driving engineering force on your team and be able to clearly communicate business goals to your team. Collaborate with your partner product and program leaders to push projects forward by removing obstacles, think beyond the MVP, and clearly communicate status to stakeholders. Lead a distributed team to solve problems quickly and collaboratively. Present a passion for building high-quality, user-friendly, scalable, reusable web components and microservices using modern technical stacks. Go or Node, AWS, Angular or React, PostgreSQL or MySQL. Supervise a team of 3-5 full stack developers. Be able to see big picture of an enterprise, connected systems, interfaces, downstream impacts when designing solutions. Adhere to and driving agile & iterative development practices. Monitor the applications that your teams manage using different monitoring tools like New Relic, Datadog and perform necessary changes to make the application more resilient, performant. Collaborate with SRE's to discuss about the application health and make necessary changes when needed to scale or perform well based on traffic. Make sure that team is using best practices to develop, validate, execute, and implement application code.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer science, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 8 years of experience in related occupations.

Requires 8 years of experience with software development and delivery with product and engineering teams.

Requires 5 years of experience with backend technologies such as Go or Node

Requires 4 years of experience with: Continuous delivery pipelines (CICD with use of either circleci or GitHub actions); Application testing (unit, integration, performance, and end to end) for full user journeys; Relational database design concepts (such as MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Requires 3 years of experience with: Technical leadership; Supervising developers in an official people leadership capacity; Front end development such as Angular or Typescript or React; Docker; AWS cloud technologies (such as RDS, Elasticsearch, SQS, S3, ECS, EKS)

Telecommuting is permitted.
