West Sound Workforce is assisting a public utility district in Kitsap County in their search for an Accounting Assistant to join their dedicated finance team. This well-established organization is committed to providing quality water, sewer, and wastewater services to the community with a focus on fiscally and environmentally responsible management.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant plays a key role in supporting the District's financial operations, ensuring accuracy across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, utility billing, customer service, and recordkeeping functions. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented professionals who take pride in accurate work and enjoy contributing to a mission-driven public service organization. Shift Information

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

What you will do as Accounting Assistant:

Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and daily bank deposits.

Support utility billing, customer service inquiries, billing adjustments, and final account settlements.

Maintain financial records, general ledger entries, and assist with monthly/quarterly tax filings.

Provide administrative support to the Finance Department and assist with Board clerk duties as assigned.

Ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping in accordance with District policies and procedures

What we are looking for:

High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Washington State driver's license required

At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance

Proficiency with spreadsheets, financial software, and 10-key calculator operation

Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines

Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
