Mama Joyce's Soul Food is seeking a reliable, skilled Line Cook to join our kitchen team. We are a fast-paced carryout restaurant known for quality, consistency, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable, and takes pride in preparing great food.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items according to Mama Joyce's recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation at all times

Handle all food items safely, following proper storage, labeling, and rotation procedures

Operate kitchen equipment including fryers, flat-tops, ovens, and grills safely and efficiently

Support daily prep work including chopping, seasoning, battering, and portioning

Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure accurate and timely order execution

Communicate with the expediter/cashiers on ticket times and order status

Follow all opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures with consistency

Assist with catering orders when assigned

Uphold our standards for speed, quality, and cleanliness during high-volume periods

Qualifications

Previous line cook or restaurant kitchen experience required

Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques, fry station management, and food safety practices

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen with attention to detail

Solid knife skills and comfort using commercial kitchen equipment

Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability --- showing up on time is a must

Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Passion for producing excellent food and maintaining a positive, professional kitchen environment
