Position Accountant

Madison Lumber and Hardware, Inc. is recruiting for an Accountant. The company has been in business for 56 years and is a retailer of building materials. The company has a fully integrated software system so the successful applicant must be able to learn to use the software system. The accountant is expected to monitor the accounting records for accuracy, to learn the accounts payable, accounts receivable, point of sales and payroll software. The account must be comfortable working with Excel. The accountant will work closely with the other managers and will manage four office staff. We are looking for someone who is a self starter, not afraid to ask questions, and driven to lean more about the company's operations and account records each day.

The company is heavily oriented towards customer service so the successful applicant must be outgoing and congenial.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the applicant needs to have an accounting degree and 2 years of experience working as an accountant in a business environment. Five years of experience as an account in a business environment will be considered as a substitute for an accounting degree.

The employer is an ESOP company so there will be contributions into the ESOP trust in years when the company is profitable. The company offers health insurance and pays 100% of the employee's cost of insurance. In addition, the company will pay 55% of the premium for dependent care. The company also has a 401(k) plan and offers supplemental insurance coverage through a cafeteria plan. The company will pay for the applicant's CPE to maintain their CPA license.

Rate of Pay

Negotiable based on education, CPA status, and work experience.
