Cost Accountant

Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join our team in Sweetwater, Texas! We are looking for someone who will be able to perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related budget reports. Duties / Responsibilities

Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses

Develops systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or accounting functions

Assists with determining costs such as salaries, rent and insurance

Predicts, plans and records variable costs such as purchases of raw labor, labor and operations costs

Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies

Assists in the preparations of necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports

Reviews, analyzes and reports actual profit margins

Assists in performing month-end and year-end closings

Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions

Provides product sample costs for Marketing and General Accounting

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills / Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software

Thorough understanding of accounting procedures

Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Excellent analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail

Ability to manage confidential information

Education / Experience

Bachelor degree or greater in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred

At least (2) two years of experience in cost accounting required

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
