Location: Lakeshore Food Hub -- Hart, MI

Travel: Required between Hart and Ludington locations

Reports To: Executive Director

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience

Position Summary The Food Hub Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Lakeshore Food Hub, including warehouse logistics, inventory control, staff supervision, and food safety compliance. This role ensures the accurate and efficient movement of food from receipt to distribution while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe facility. The position requires frequent travel between the Hart and Ludington locations to support organizational operations and cross-site coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Inventory Management Oversee the receipt, staging, storage, and shipping of all inbound and outbound products Maintain accurate inventory through routine cycle counts, lot tracking, and freshness management Ensure all storage areas are clean, well-organized, and compliant with food safety and OSHA standards

Team Leadership Hire, train, supervise, and schedule warehouse team members, including drivers and material handlers Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-first work environment Provide clear performance expectations, regular feedback, and ongoing training

Logistics & Distribution Manage transportation logistics and delivery schedules to support regional food distribution Oversee accurate, timely picking, packing, and fulfillment of orders Maintain delivery vehicles and ensure compliance with DOT requirements and inspections

Compliance & Safety Enforce food safety standards, including FSMA and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations; conduct safety training and support regular audits Maintain documentation required for food safety, health inspections, and facility certifications

Technology, Data & Reporting Utilize inventory and warehouse systems such as Local Food Marketplace, Salesforce, and QuickBooks Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, shrink/loss, and labor efficiency Report operational metrics and emerging needs regularly to the Executive Director

Qualifcations

Preferred: Experience in food hubs, food banks, produce distribution, or values-based food systems Familiarity with regional/local food supply chains Bilingual (English/Spanish) Valid certifications such as DOT, forklift license, or HACCP

Work Environment, Schedule & Physical Demands Work is primarily conducted in a dry and refrigerated warehouse environment This is a physically demanding position involving frequent lifting, pallet movement, loading/unloading, and extended periods of standing, bending, and walking Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required to meet operational needs Regular travel is required between the Hart and Ludington Lakeshore Food Club locations The role operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and collaborative nonprofit setting
