JOB SUMMARY

Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of accounting and financial reporting for all Corporate Accounting responsibilities, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations and guidelines. Ensures adherence to appropriate financial controls and proposes modifications as necessary for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports the completion of the monthly general ledger closing process; records cash received, prepares journal entries, and various reports analyzing accounts to ensure proper accounting of transactions; resolves any accounting issues.

Administers certain capital projects, reviews project contracts and prepares project reconciliations.

Records and reports all prepaid expenses, such as insurance premiums, software licenses, and banking related fees; establishes and maintains prepaid cost amortization schedules.

Performs ad hoc assignments related to reporting, financial statement review, departmental planning and other aspects of finance, as necessary.

Designs, documents, implements, modifies and monitors internal financial controls in accordance with SOX requirements related to the direct assignment and allocation of costs among affiliates.

Utilizes financial systems to perform essential duties and responsibilities, assisting the Accounting department in providing data and recommendations to support financial analysis.

Assists with upgrades to financial systems and data conversions or validations as needed.

Utilizes software applications and develops procedures for efficient and effective transaction processing.

May undertake other special projects and duties as assigned for the benefit of the department or company.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting.

Utility accounting experience preferred.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely and effectively to individuals at all levels in the organization and with external auditors.

Basic knowledge of financial systems with the ability to extract information as necessary to complete daily assignments.

Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial reporting best practices and internal controls

Sound analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex accounting and related issues.

Strong documentation skills.

Ability to research and analyze various @types of data.

Ability to work extended hours during peak periods to meet compliance-driven deadlines.
