Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; five years of experience in analysis, maintaining financial accounts and records, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, strong interpersonal communication, and strong organizational skills required.

Preferred:

Master's degree, experience with Ellucian Banner and not-for-profit fund accounting, and experience in a higher education environment is preferred.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF DUTIES

The Accounting Manager reports to the Comptroller or his/her designee and performs the following duties:

Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close.

Develop and maintain financial record keeping and reporting systems.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; assist with regulatory reporting as applicable.

Prepare and review appropriate ledger entries and monthly reconciliations.

Maintain general ledger system.

Review monthly prepaid and fixed asset roll forwards and related schedules.

Assist with completion of the State's Annual Operating report.

Prepare, review and analyze statistical and financial reports for internal (College) or external (Federal, State, etc.) distribution/submission.

Review bank reconciliations and corporate credit card reconciliations.

Assist with the quarterly review and annual external audit.

Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.

Research accounting issues for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Complete annual calculations for auditors to include vacation accrual and termination benefits.

Prepare documents and work directly with the college's actuary.

Manages Plant Fund.

As Assistant Treasurer (upon approval by BOT on annual basis) assumes responsibility for the authorization of college-wide disbursements, wire-transfers, etc.

Additional duties, as assigned.

This is a full-time 12-month full-time position with a salary range of $70,000-$75,000.
