Job Title: Engineering Intern

Job Overview:

Join our team as an Engineering Intern focused on supporting the setup, optimization, and streamlining of a new welding line for HC Roofs. This hands-on internship will provide valuable experience in manufacturing process design, welding operations, and continuous improvement within a real-world production environment. You'll work directly with our engineering and operations teams to contribute to efficient workflows, safe practices, and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in analyzing the current welding process and identifying opportunities for productivity improvements.

Collaborate with engineers and production staff to help lay out an efficient and safe welding line.

Contribute to welding procedure documentation, fixture design, and workstation setup.

Support time studies, line balancing, and process flow mapping to reduce bottlenecks and improve throughput.

Help implement lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, visual controls, and standard work instructions.

Participate in safety audits and ergonomic assessments related to the welding line setup.

Document all work clearly and contribute to regular project updates and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

Basic understanding of welding principles, materials, and fabrication methods.

Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor) for layout and fixture design.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Eagerness to learn and contribute to real-world engineering challenges.

Internship Details:

Location: On-site, Monday-Friday (hours flexible depending on academic schedule).

Duration: Fall Semester or as agreed; potential to extend.

Compensation: Paid internship (rate based on experience/academic standing).
