Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to assist the GST Michigan Works! fiscal team in the day- to- day operations and financial activities of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Performing regular accounting duties including journal entries, reviewing of invoices and issuance of checks.

Responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, appropriate reports, including assistance with cash management, preparing bank reconciliations and maintenance of necessary files.

Inputting data from records/paperwork forwarded by agency personnel into fiscal computer systems; initiating, coding, and maintaining participant files and fiscal records.

Reviewing paperwork for accuracy and completeness pertinent to participant records and payment generation.

Preparing bank deposits, generating vendor and sub recipient payments and reconciling agency accounts.

Assisting in monthly, year end, and program year closings.

Requirements:

Associate degree in accounting or a related field

Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience

Proficiency in fund accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
