Title of Immediate Supervisor: Principal - Day School

Department Description: Gateway Longview's Educational Services supports Pre-K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. The goal of the program is to support the needs of individual students as they integrate back to traditional classrooms, or, to support their goal of graduation.

Compensation

$17.00 per hour

Hours/Schedule

Full-Time, normal school hours

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Assist education team in management of student behavior; assist teacher in preparation and implementation of curriculum.

Contribute to the effective team management of behavior of students in assigned class, and to the implementation of Individual Education Plans. Assure that methods of intervention with students are employed in a therapeutic manner and are responsive to individual student's Individual Education/Treatment Plan. Assure that necessary information regarding student is communicated to involved staff in a timely manner.

Support and enhance teacher's instructional efforts by providing individual and small group tutoring. Assist teacher in preparation of curriculum materials. Perform other duties (such as maintaining decorative bulletin boards, organizing and supervising special activities, providing transportation of students as needed, assisting in outreach to parents) as assigned.

Maintain thorough and timely documentation of significant incidents.

SKILL, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma and pertinent experience and/or training.

Ability to physically restrain clients.

Candidates do not need their own vehicle, however, a valid NYS Driver's License is mandatory.
