Job Summary

Heavy Equipment Mechanics are key members of FRC's operations team, working with the Shop Manager to ensure all company equipment and vehicles are maintained and repaired as needed. We are willing to train a mechanic who has a working knowledge of heavy equipment, CDL trucks, hydraulic systems, and/or diesel engines and who is willing to learn more about the specific equipment utilized by FRC. Heavy Equipment Mechanics perform repairs and maintenance on-site at the FRC shop but may also travel to jobsites to troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs in the field. Overnight stays will be infrequent but may be required. The successful Heavy Equipment Mechanic will also ensure an understanding and adherence to all safety needs/regulations, will be a clear communicator, willing to work as part of a team, as well as able to work independently. After 6 months of employment, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic will receive a $1,000 signing bonus.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:**

Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot problems on heavy equipment and vehicles at the FRC shop

Travel to FRC jobsites and other field locations to troubleshoot/repair, when necessary

Operate machinery such as welders and torches (fabricating skills helpful)

Follow safety regulations/protocols in the shop and in the field

Report unsafe conditions to supervisor and follow any other reporting protocols

Operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles in conformity with manufacturer requirements, FRC policies, safety requirements, and any site-specific regulations

Attend shop meetings, safety meetings, and other company meetings as scheduled

Complete and submit service logs, accounting, payroll, and other administrative forms

Work Conditions

The primary work location will be the FRC equipment shop in Columbus, OH with both indoor and outdoor work/storage locations
