We are seeking an energetic and organized Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our mushroom farms on-site retail space. This individual will be responsible for customer engagement, product merchandising, inventory control, and creating a unique and educational shopping experience that reflects our brand values and commitment to sustainable, local food.

Key Responsibilities:

Retail Operations Oversee the daily operations of the on-site retail store Ensure a clean, inviting, and well-organized shopping environment Open and close the retail space according to standard operating procedures Monitor and maintain inventory of mushroom products and related goods (e.g., grow kits, compost, farm merchandise)

Sales & Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service, including answering questions about mushroom varieties, cooking suggestions, health benefits, and farm practices Upsell and educate customers on new products or farm events Handle sales transactions and operate POS systems accurately

Team Management Recruit, train, and supervise retail staff (if applicable) Schedule shifts and ensure proper staffing during open hours Foster a positive and motivated team environment

Merchandising & Marketing Design and maintain visually appealing product displays Collaborate with the marketing team to execute promotions, signage, and farm-branded materials Coordinate with the farm team for updates on seasonal mushroom varieties and availability

Community Engagement Organize and support farm tours, tastings, classes, and special events in the retail space Act as a knowledgeable ambassador for the mushroom farm and sustainable agriculture

Administration & Reporting Track sales metrics, customer feedback, and product performance Monitor and report on inventory, spoilage, and reordering needs Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Qualifications: Prior experience in retail management or similar customer-facing role (farm or specialty food store experience preferred) Strong knowledge or passion for mushrooms, local agriculture, or sustainability Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable working in a dynamic, farm-based environment Proficient with point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Excel, email) Ability to lift 30+ lbs. and stand for extended periods

Preferred Skills: Background in culinary arts, nutrition, or horticulture is a plus Experience organizing events or educational workshops Familiarity with marketing tools (social media, newsletters, etc.)
