Job Title - Shop Manager

Job Summary

The Shop Manager oversees and participates in the daily operations of a retail shop, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient workflow, and profitability. This role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, maintaining shop appearance, and implementing sales strategies to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

Operational Management

Oversee daily shop operations, ensuring opening and closing procedures are followed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Monitor and maintain shop supplies and equipment.

Team Leadership & Staff Management
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise shop staff.

Motivate team members and foster a positive work environment.

Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to improve skills and productivity.

Customer Service
Ensure customers receive prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable assistance.

Resolve customer complaints and issues with professionalism and sensitivity.

Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

Inventory Control & Merchandising
Manage stock levels, ordering, and receiving merchandise from suppliers.

Conduct regular inventory checks and audits to minimize loss and spoilage.

Plan and execute visual merchandising displays to attract customers and drive sales.

Financial Management
Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to meet targets.

Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports on sales, expenses, and inventory.

Assist with budget planning and cost control measures.

Marketing & Promotion
Collaborate with management to develop in-store promotions or events.

Maintain social media or other marketing channels as needed to promote the shop.

Build relationships with local businesses and community partners to increase visibility.

Participate in Daily Operations
Perform alignments and front-end work

Tire installations and procuring tires

Brakes, shocks, alternators, starters, differentials, oil changes, and other light mechanic work.

We do not do any major engine or transmission work

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Shop or mechanical experience preferred

Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams.

Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management, and point-of-sale systems.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office) and retail software.

Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash and inventory.

Knowledge of merchandising, sales techniques, and marketing.

Ability to work M-F and the occasional roadside emergency calls

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to ~25--50 lbs).

Capability to perform manual tasks like tire swaps, tire bars, and being on your feet daily
