Summary:

The Short Order Cook prepares and cooks food items quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role focuses on short-preparation dishes such as breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, fried foods, and other made-to-order meals. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to maintain high-quality standards under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook menu items to order following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.

Operate grills, fryers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation throughout the shift.

Monitor inventory levels for ingredients and communicate shortages to management.

Coordinate ticket flow and manage multiple orders at once in a fast-paced environment.

Assist with food prep tasks such as chopping, portioning, and stocking as needed.

Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, servers, and management to ensure smooth service.

Follow all safety procedures and maintain a professional, positive attitude.

Qualifications:

Prior experience as a short order cook or similar role preferred but not always required.

Strong multitasking and time-management skills.

Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.

Basic understanding of food safety regulations.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to stand for long periods and lift medium-weight items (up to 30 lbs.).
