Operations Manager will have primary responsibility to manage all aspects of plant production operations, to plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing functions and general operations. The Plant Manager will be a key leader in the production of Harsco Rail's core product line which consists of highly complex engineered-to-order machinery. This role will have full responsibility for all manufacturing operations within the company's flagship facility located in Ludington, MI.

This role is responsible for strategizing and executing plans in production, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, and facilities management. A key aspect of the role is to ensure effective communication across departments to align operations with customer needs.

In addition to daily production and operations this person will take a leadership role in implementing Lean methodologies and processes.

Basic Qualifications**

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or other related discipline.

Experience
10 years Manufacturing Operations Management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education or Experience

MBA degree

Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing, low volume complex machinery manufacture.

Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement initiatives.

Thorough grasp of general manufacturing principles, medium / heavy fabrication, paint, assembly, hydraulics, electrical, power train, quality testing etc. (background gained in specialist vehicles, construction, and agricultural vehicles etc.

Computer skills to include email and Microsoft Office Suite.

Mathematical skills to include the ability to analyze performance metrics for trends.

Thorough understanding of technical processes/issues associated site risks.

Ability to lead in the investigation of a wide variety of incidents effectively and objectively and analyze for root causes using problem solving methodologies.
