Ellis Music Company is a family music store specializing in school music instrument rentals, sales, and repairs throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. Were seeking a financial professional to oversee the stores financial health, managing accounts payable/receiveable, payroll, budgeting, and reporting.

Core responsibilities

Accounts payable and receivable

- Manage outgoing payments to vendors and incoming payments from customers.
Payroll
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee payroll.
Tax compliance
- Work with an accounting firm to prepare and file all necessary business tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Budgeting and forecasting
- Assist in developing and managing the store\'s budget, and provide financial forecasting to support business planning.
Financial record-keeping and reporting
Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all store transactions, including sales, expenses, and payroll.

Compile and present regular financial reports, budgets, and commentary to management for decision-making.

Customer Interaction & Sales (as needed to support office staff)
Answer telephone and email inquiries promptly and professionally

Assist customers with rentals, purchases, financing, and service

scheduling

Recommend products, explain features, and promote rental

programs

Key Skills & Qualifications

Experience with bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.

Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and spreadsheet programs (e.g., Excel).

Computer literacy and the ability to quickly become proficient with

the stores point of sale software.

Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Retail sales experience a plus.
