A Plumber Helper is an

entry-level position that supports licensed plumbers in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role involves assisting with plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance while learning the trade through on-the-job training. Plumber Helpers are essential for ensuring that plumbing projects run smoothly and efficiently

Key Responsibilities

Assist plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances

Prepare work areas by cleaning, removing debris, and cutting access holes in walls or floors

Hand tools and materials to plumbers and carry equipment to job sites

Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools

Perform minor repairs under supervision, such as replacing faucet washers, toilet wax rings, and clearing simple drain blockages

Assist with installing garbage disposals, water heaters, sinks, toilets, and other plumbing equipment

Conduct basic pressure tests and ensure plumbing systems are leak-free

Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment

Required Skills and Qualifications

Physical fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials, kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods.

Mechanical aptitude: Basic understanding of plumbing systems and tools

Attention to detail: Ensuring accurate measurements and proper installation

Teamwork and communication: Work closely with plumbers and other team members

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in plumbing is beneficial but not always required

Certifications: OSHA or other safety certifications may be advantageous

Work Environment
