Summary

The

Estimatoris responsible to take off plans, input data, prepare cost and labor estimates for assigned projects. The Estimator is also expected to follow-up with clients, that could stand in the way of being awarded the contract.

Being able to read and comprehend construction documents is key, field experience is a plus. If you can read and comprehend construction documents and are proficient in computers using mainly excel spreadsheets, we can train you.

Roles and Responsibilities

The

Estimatorwill perform the following duties.

Identify and quantify concrete and masonry items to be included in bid proposal.

Enter quantities into excel spreadsheet software program for pricing

Identify, contact, and create relationships with vendors/suppliers

Analyze and scope vendors/suppliers to determine best value and project continuity

Based on analysis, proactively work to persuade vendors and/or suppliers to commit to best pricing

Identify to whom we are bidding and prepare bid form, bid proposal letter and/or qualifications

Fill out and quantify inclusions and exclusions in subcontractor bid proposal

Ensure Standard Conditions are included in every proposal

Package and send proposal on time; review with Operations for production numbers

Follow up with client personally to ensure bid receipt and to identify potential obstacles in closing the deal

Develop contractor relationship for current and future jobs

Collect data on lost jobs to monitor competition and market

Track project until awarded

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures

Efficient listening skills

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to calculate area and volume

Must be able to interface with clients and co-workers

Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word and Excel

Proficiency in on screen takeoff programs

Must be able to read and comprehend construction documents architectural, structural, and civil drawings.
