Social Media Coordinator

The Deseret News Social Media Coordinator works with the Marketing and Creative Services team to create content for our social media. This role contributes to helping develop strategies to maintain our social media platforms, extend the reach of our journalism and grow our audience.

This is a hybrid position that is expected to work in our downtown Salt Lake City office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Duties include:

Create social media content for the Deseret News social accounts

Read Deseret News articles and come up with creative ways to showcase our journalism on social media

Moderate comments

Monitor and analyze metrics to track progress and identify opportunities

Assist in other marketing and communications efforts as needed

Follow social media and content creation trends and recommend improvements

You are a good fit if you have:

A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, advertising, or related field

Experience with social media content creation and posting on Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Threads and more

A great attitude and ability to jump in and help anywhere you are needed

You are a great fit if you have:

Professional or internship experience with social media content creation and posting on Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Threads and more

Strong data analysis and web analytics, and certified by Google Analytics

Graphic design or video editing experience and familiarity with the Adobe suite, specifically Express

A passion for social media: you follow the trends and know what attracts an audience

A passion for the mission of news and online journalism
